That's a huge purchase there my boy.
Facebook has made the monumental buyout of WhatsApp, to the tune of 16 Billion Dollars in cash and stocks as filed in this SEC document today making the buyout official. 16 Billion Dollars. Wow. And here I am, not even a $100 in my pocket. *sigh*
Keep going for more of the story that's buzzing the internet like crazy.
WhatsApp would still exist as it is so why did Facebook even made the purchase? Well, aside from 400+ million users of WhatsApp, Facebook has said in a press release that WhatsApp is well on its way for building connections between 1 billion people, and Mark Zuckerberg couldn't just let that pass him up. It's big money, that's basically what he's saying there. Well, you couldn't exactly blame a guy for grabbing a business opportunity now can you?
As with any merger, WhatsApp users have different opinions on the topic. Some say it's a good thing, some say it's the start of a bad thing. You see, one of the reasons that make WhatsApp great is the lack of ads as the developers of WhatsApp wanted to deliver a messaging experience that is devoid of marketing.. Which is really a breath of fresh air for all of us tired of seeing ads. Now factor in Facebook. If you list down the things that make Facebook bad? I'm betting that pretty high up in that list would be - you guessed it -Ads. But who could say no to 16 Billion Dollars? Certainly not the owners of WhatsApp. Or me.
Like my boys Bone Thugs N Harmony say - Money! Money!
Guess we'll have to wait if the WhatsApp owners would get Winklevossed.
